What our customers have to say

We’re missing our lovely customers. To cheer us up while we wait to open our doors again we’ve been reading some of the reviews SE Twenty have received and thought we’d share some of them with you.

Super place!

Have been meaning to try this place for some time and finally went today for a late breakfast/brunch. We were greeted and found a seat immediately; the cafe was lovely and clean with a fab decor. The food was really good, came out in a timely manner and a very reasonable price. The staff were also very pleasant. Great to have such a lovely cafe/bar in the area! Will definitely go again!!

Vegetarian breakfast

We enjoyed a perfect vegetarian breakfast - the best we've had. Beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. All power to you - I hope you continue to thrive. What a find!!! The cafe has been tastefully decorated - altogether a winning project!

Brilliant meal

Absolutely lovely staff, brilliant food 10/10 will be coming again. Jerk chicken was lovely, a little spicy but just to my taste! ❤️

Superb

Fab service, extra friendly staff, well priced and delicious food. Catered for a group of eight last night and had amazing service. The guys I see in the morning for my coffee before work are just so friendly, thank you. Highly recommended

Beyond satisfied

Just had the nicest Sunday roast in a five mile radius by far. I have been to SE Twenty for breakfast and have to say the service and food is just as good. The decor is wonderful and very clean. Excellent service, not overbearing just enough. Without a doubt I'll be definitely coming back here and highly recommend.

Absolute hidden diamond in this area!

Visited SE Twenty for brunch on a Saturday. The place is tastefully decorated, the menu isn’t extensive but was we ate was really good quality and tasty. Service is excellent and attentive. Will be back soon for a drink one evening. Given the other options in this area, I can’t recommend enough!

Best Butchers

It’s National BBQ week and while cafes and restaurants are not open for business it’s the perfect time to fire up a feast in your garden. Here we look at some of the best butchers in the area. But you don’t need to take our word for it, hear what others have to say.

Carnivore

Award winning Carnivore loves doing things the hard way “if we can make it we will, you'll see us preparing all our own sausages from scratch in the shop, not hidden away in some back room. We make all our own bacon, dry cure our own gammons and cook them ourselves. We even have our own smoker. Many of the marinaded products are from our own recipes.”

“We used their meat for a large BBQ, it was amazing quality and so tasty! Everyone commented on how much better it was than meat you can buy elsewhere. And they really looked after us, excellent customer service.”

Flock & Herd

Sourcing the very best and affordable produce and the desire to meet every customer's needs Flock & Herd aims to provide the very best possible quality and range of produce so its customers get the best in taste, service and experience.

“It's not often that I rate a butcher quite so high, but Flock & Herd is a neighbourhood gem and deserves the praise. I can definitely recommend the sausages - from lamb merguez to venison and red wine - and the staff are very helpful. “

Villagers Sausages

“Very wide selection of top quality sausages available including a massive boerewors. The burgers were absolutely amazing, as were the pork belly ribs. They have a great selection of sauces, marinades and BBQ products too.”

Murray Brothers

Excellent quality, service with a smile and apparently, they can sing too!

“My partner or I travel a 10-mile round trip most weekends as this is the best butchers around and the only place to get fresh, good quality prepared products. Never had a bad experience in the nine years we have been visiting. Great and helpful staff with great singing voices too! Can’t recommend them enough.”

Easy-shakshouka-recipe

Easy shakshouka recipe

You don’t need to forego your favourite breakfasts from our menu, and we all deserve a treat, so we’ve come up with a solution to make mealtimes during lockdown a bit more special. If you’ve been craving our famed shakshouka dish for breakfast or lunch, you can now recreate it at home thanks to our super easy recipe.

Tried your hand at baking while in isolation? This Middle Eastern dish pairs perfectly with a slice of tasty sourdough or a good old crusty roll. The best part about preparing this dish is that you can serve it straight from the pan, which means less washing up!

Serves

Two people

Ingredients

4 large eggs
2 tins of chopped tomatoes
1 clove of garlic
2 red onions
A bunch of fresh coriander
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tsp of caster sugar
1 tsp of chilli flakes (optional)

Step 1

Heat a small amount of olive oil in a frying pan. Dice the onions while the oil warms up, then add them to the pan.

Step 2

As the onions soften, add crushed garlic and chopped coriander stalks to the pan. If you’re a fan of spice, add chilli flakes to build extra flavour.

Step 3

Once the onions and garlic have a golden-brown glow, pour the chopped tomatoes into the pan. Sprinkle some sugar over the top and allow the tomatoes to bubble away for 8-10 minutes.

Step 4

Allow the juice of the tomatoes to reduce until you’re left with a thick, rich sauce. If you find you have too much sauce, you can store some away in your freezer for up to one month.

Step 5

Reduce the heat and make space for the eggs, by creating four dips in your sauce with the back of a wooden spoon. Carefully crack an egg into each dip.

Step 6

Cover the frying pan with a lid and leave to simmer for 6-8 minutes over a low heat. Once the eggs have been cooked to your satisfaction, remove the lid and garnish with coriander leaves.

Be adventurous with this dish and make it your own by adding your favourite herbs and spices. You can even add a side dish or two for a delicious quarantine family brunch.

Give our shakshouka recipe a go and share snaps of your handy work with us on social media. You’ll find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Real FC logo blog graphic

We are proud sponsors of Real FC!

We’re proud to announce our sponsorship of the U8’s team at local football club, Real FC. Based in Club Langley in Beckenham – just a stone’s throw away from SE Twenty – Real FC is a Junior Football Academy which aims to develop and nurture the talent of young local players with a uniquely exciting curriculum.

Originally established as Club Langley JFC in August 2011, the club reformed to become Real FC @ Club Langley in April 2018 and now has 18 junior teams and three youth sides, including a wildly popular girls’ section. Real FC is determined to provide local kids with the opportunity to reach their potential in a safe, secure and stimulating environment that brings out the best in its players.

We’re committed to supporting the community with the sponsorship of a local organisation, and Real FC was a natural choice. Owner, Graham Cook, says, “As an avid football fan myself – although I’m more of a spectator – it’s a perfect partnership! Local football teams are central to our communities, so I’m thrilled that SE Twenty is one of Real FC’s supporters.”

“We’re delighted that SE Twenty has chosen to sponsor the Real FC U8’s team,” says Andy Birchenall, Managing Director of Real FC, “The support makes a real difference to the club and allows us to continue to offer incredible opportunities to the kids, as well as a place to enjoy football.”

As sponsors of the U8’s kit, you can spy our logo on the front of the teams’ football shirts, as well as on the banner overlooking the pitch at Club Langley. And now, you can spy it on SE Twenty’s walls too! On Tuesday 12th November, after their weekly training session, a few of the U8’s team and their coaches, Andy Birchenall and Michael Costa, popped over to SE Twenty to present Graham with his very own signed Real FC shirt. Result!

Say hello to SE Twenty's new menu!

In the beginning at SE Twenty, we kept the menu short ‘n’ sweet, as we settled in and started to find our feet in our little corner of Beckenham/Anerley. After receiving lots of heartily-welcomed feedback on our dishes and some careful planning of the menu, we’re thrilled to announce that we will be launching our brand-new menu on:

Wednesday 2nd October!

If you think our current menu is mouth-wateringly good, prepare yourselves – it’s about to get even better.

Early risers and morning birds can expect an extended breakfast menu, featuring fluffy pancakes, French toast and a breakfast burrito, as well as the usual suspects of cooked breakfasts, poached eggs and omelettes. And for the vegetarians and vegans, there are lots of options available to tickle your tastebuds.

It’s not just the breakfast menu that’s got a makeover – our lunch, day and evening menus are now packed with dozens of delicious dishes, with something on the menu for everyone. From light bites like lamb chicken schnitzel sandwiches, wild mushroom tagliatelle and crispy beef salads, to appetite-curbing Mediterranean sharing platters, burgers & fries and vegetable curry. Sides include creamy mash, refreshing salads and our new signature ‘dirty fries’ – golden chips topped with melted cheese, bacon, garlic and chilli. Don’t worry, our stomach just rumbled too. And little ones are well-catered for, with our revised 'Kid's Menu' featuring favourites such as fish fingers and burgers, as well as the option to order smaller versions of selected dishes for kids with more discerning palates.

Those with a sweet tooth should get their spoons at the ready, as the newly launched dessert menu is an ode to the classics; think sticky toffee pudding, crème brûlée, and apple & blueberry crumble, to name a few.

And of course, we’re still serving our now-famous Sunday Roasts, but with a few little extras – honey-roasted parsnips, cauliflower cheese, steamed cabbage – to take your Sundays to the next level.

Click here to take a sneaky peak at the new menu!

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or have only just discovered SE Twenty, we’d like to say thank you for supporting us and we’d love to invite you to try the new menu. We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors.

Either pop by (view our opening hours here) or call 0203 9602 220 to book a table.

Let us know if you'll be coming along on Wednesday to try the new menu, via social media. We are on; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
